Why walk and talk therapy?
Combined benefits: Both greenspaces and physical movement are powerful tools for improving mental health. Being in nature, and in particular engaging in physical exercise in nature, has been shown to calm the nervous system, improve mood, reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, improve sleep, and ease stress.
Comfort: Walking side-by side with a therapist can feel more comfortable and conversational than sitting across an office.
Multi-tasking: It can be hard to carve out time for therapy and for physical movement; this allows you to do both at once.
My “home trail” starts at the Nature Center in Tilden park. It’s generally uncrowded, has water and restrooms available, and is walkable even in the rainy months. I am happy to meet at another trail in the East Bay that is convenient for you, or to suggest a few other options.
Virtual and phone sessions
I offer phone and secure video sessions so you can meet from home, work, or wherever you’re most comfortable. If you’re juggling work, parenting, or a long commute, this makes therapy easier to fit in. You’ll get the same thoughtful, supportive care—just without the drive.
Virtual appointments are available to clients anywhere in California. They cut out travel time and give you more flexibility with scheduling. If you’re new to telehealth, I’ll walk you through a simple setup so you can focus on you.
House visits
In-home therapy brings the session to you, so you can do meaningful work in the comfort of your own space. It’s a great option if getting out is difficult—whether due to mobility, chronic pain, caregiving, a new baby, or simply a full schedule. Many people find they open up more easily at home, and we can also work with real-life routines and stressors as they arise.
